• Ample FREE parking is available onsite; the limited 3-hour parking signs DO NOT apply to students taking this offering
• Registrants should park in library's garage; enter garage off of Golden Gate Avenue
• The Lafayette Library is conveniently located within easy walking distance of the Lafayette BART Station

Course Materials and Hours
Onsite check-in will begin at 8:00a.m. on Monday, February 3. "Live" course instruction will run from 8:30am - 4:30pm February 3-6. The 3-hour exam will be administered at 8:30am on Friday, February 7. Upon registration, you will have access to the downloadable materials. Since Internet access cannot be guaranteed, it is highly recommended that you save these downloadable documents to a flash drive or to your hard drive prior to arriving onsite. If you would prefer hardcopy (printed) materials sent to you in advance, both a print fee of $35 and a shipping fee (TBD) apply. [Note: Shipping fee is calculated at the time of online check-out.] Need a Cup o' Joe to get your morning rolling? Be sure to stop and grab your coffee before arriving on site. Registrants will be on their own for refreshments and lunch daily.

January 30 - Last day to receive a "PASS" on the Diagnostic Text

Required Equipment
An HP-12C and laptops are required. Laptops should be loaded with Excel 2010 or later. Mac users should download the 2008 or 2011 tool pack support. Electrical outlets are limited so all registrants should bring their own extension cords / power strips. Bring paper and pen / pencil for taking notes. A No. 2 pencil is required for the exam.

Education Credit Hours and Attendance Verifications
Those who arrive late or leave early will jeopardize receipt of credit.

Appraisal Institute: Full attendance (100%) and successful completion of the exam enables Designated Members, Candidates for Designation and Practicing Affiliates to receive 375 AI CEC points; 275 points for full attendance only (no exam). NOTE: Those taking this course to meet designation or Professional Development requirements must have full attendance and successfully complete the exam.

BREA Continuing: Quantitative Analysis has been approved by the BREA (#12754227) for 32-hours of CEC. Full (100%) attendance required but BREA CEC does not require successful completion of the exam.

BREA Basic/Qualifying: Quantitative Analysis is approved for 35-hours of BREA qualifying education (QE) credit as subject matter electives. Full (100%) attendance and successful completion of the exam are required for QE credit.

Note: Effective 10/01/19 students will be able to access their attendance certificates 24/7 through the Appraisal Institute's netFORUM association management program. The Northern California Chapter does not have direct access to certificates for programs held after this time. Important Note: Mandatory Diagnostic Test
Before enrolling in this or any other MAI designation course, you must pass a diagnostic test. The Excel diagnostic tests your mastery of solving appraisal problems using spreadsheets. This newly released diagnostic test was intentionally designed to be challenging and ensure participants have adequate Excel skills before taking MAI designation courses. Excel is used extensively in the MAI designation courses; it is highly recommended that you know how to perform the necessary appraisal functions in Excel to succeed in this course.

This course implements a blended learning approach, which includes:
  • A pre-class, 2-hour online session
  • 30 hours of traditional classroom education
  • A 3-hour exam on the 5th morning.

You will be asked to clear the calculator’s memory before and after the examination. Only one calculator is permitted in the testing room. Examinees taking most AI exams may bring their own calculator to use during the exam. Laptops, cellular phones, tablets, iPads, wearable technology (smart watch, Apple Watch, Google Glass, etc.), and other devices that can store data or connect to the Internet are NOT permitted during the exam. In addition, all watches, wallets, bags, and purses must be removed and stored out of reach prior to taking the exam.

Written cancellations received by Monday, January 20, are subject to a $50 cancellation fee.  Cancellations received after that time but prior to noon on Monday, January 27, are subject to a $150 cancellation fee.  No refunds for cancellations received after January 27 or for course "no shows".  All cancellations are subject to a non-refundable $25 material fee.  Cancellations can be emailed to lisa@norcal-ai.org.
