Supervisory Appraisers may need to re-take this course every few years as dictated by state law.
Several states require a Supervisory Appraiser/Trainee Appraiser Course that contains state-specific material not covered in this course. Those states include, but may not be limited to, AR, IA, KY, ME, MN, MT, NC, NE, OH, OR, SD, TN, TX, UT, and WV. In most cases, the local chapters have added the necessary materials to comply with their state’s requirements, but offerings taken out-of-state may not satisfy another state’s requirements. Attending this course in-state is highly recommended, and it is imperative that participants confirm approval by contacting their state regulatory agency. Please see the Supervisory Appraiser/Trainee Appraiser Course FAQ for more information.

For individuals who need to pass an exam to meet state requirements, a 1-hour exam concludes the course.

You will be asked to clear the calculator's memory before and after the examination. Only one calculator is permitted in the testing room. Examinees taking most AI exams may bring their own calculator to use during the exam. Laptops, cellular phones, tablets, iPads, wearable technology (smart watch, Apple Watch, Google Glass, etc.), and other devices that can store data or connect to the Internet are NOT permitted during the exam. In addition, all watches, wallets, bags, and purses must be removed and stored out of reach prior to taking the exam.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS: Appraisal Institute – 5 hours (5 classroom) Minnesota Appraisal Continuing Education CE – 6 hours; PE - 6 Hours Assessor CE - 6 hours As of Jan. 1, all individuals who become Supervisory Appraisers and Trainee Appraisers will be required to take a Supervisory/Trainee Course per the 2015 Real Property Appraiser Qualification Criteria (AQB). Minnesota is one of a few states that is going to require 2 Hours of additional state-specific rules and regulations. Minnesota is also requiring that each individual will need to pass an exam at the end of the course (per state requirements). This six hour Minnesota Supervisory Appraiser/Trainee Course targets all individuals who became Supervisory Appraisers or Trainee Appraisers on Jan. 1. Many MN Appraiser Supervisors were under the impression, that if they were a supervisor, or a trainee, prior to 1/1/2015; that the new law did not apply to them. Appraisers understood they would be 'grandfathered' into this new law. This is correct, they are, but for the original supervisor/trainee relationship they had as of January 1. HOWEVER, if a supervisor adds any NEW trainees, or if a trainee works with another licensed/certified appraiser, who was NOT their supervisor on January 1; then attending this course is a requirement for these individuals involved. The North Star Chapter has adapted the Appraisal Institute's 4-hour course that will address the national minimum requirements, responsibilities, & expectations for trainee appraisers and supervisory appraisers (that are included in the AQB's required course outline of 4 hours), and has added the required 2 hours of MN specific course content, which has met the additional state-specific rules & regulations required in MN for 6 Hours. PLEASE NOTE: WE WILL BE OFFERING THIS COURSE AT: Minnesota Realty School 2489 Rice Street, #85 (Lower Level) St. Paul, MN 55113
