Uniform Appraisal Standards for Federal Land Acquisitions: Practical Applications

The definition of "Virtual" delivery format was the temporary exception (beginning 3/15/2020 until 12/31/2021) allowing previously approved classroom CE to be offered on a web platform, without additional submission or acceptance from the International Distance Education Certification Center (IDECC). The term “Virtual” will no longer exist as of December 31, 2021.

Please note that as of January 1, 2022, "Synchronous" delivery format is the sole term for offerings described as a live online class taught in real time by an instructor.

Due to changes with the AQB and changes to rules in each state, programs may or may or not be approved in a synchronous format. The Appraisal Institute has reached out to all states and is waiting to hear back from many on their regulations regarding synchronous programs going forward.

It is important to note that the AI educational programs that may be offered by synchronous delivery *ARE NOT* approved in every state. ALL participants MUST check state approvals prior to registering for any Appraisal Institute program, including synchronous, online and classroom offerings.

What is qualifying education credit (QE)?

Also referred to as "pre licensure credit" or "basic education," qualifying education is the education mandated by your state to become a licensed or certified appraiser. This varies by state. The information below is state specific.

What is continuing education (CE)?

This is the education that is required to maintain your license. States have different continuing education cycles.

To find more about licensure and certification and continuing education cycles specific to your state, please contact your state regulatory agency.

The Appraisal Institute provides the state education information below as a service to its members and the public. Although the Appraisal Institute makes reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy of this information, state education requirements may change from time to time at the state's sole discretion. To make sure you have the most up to date information, you should contact your specific state to determine the current education approval and requirements.

This is a list of approvals through Appraisal Institute’s national office only. Chapters may also submit for state approval of certain CE seminars they are sponsoring, and those approvals are not listed below. If your state does not have hours listed below, please contact the Appraisal Institute or the sponsoring chapter for further information or contact your state agency for a comprehensive approval list.
