Description

The 7-Hour Equivalent USPAP Update Course focuses on recent changes to USPAP requirements for ethical behavior and competent performance undertaken by appraisers. The course emphasizes the application of USPAP in everyday practice, which will help clarify commonly misunderstood aspects of USPAP. Appraisers in all areas of appraisal practice, including those subject to state licensing or certification and continuing education requirements imposed by professional organizations, client groups, or employers, will greatly benefit from the content presented in the course.

The course details the changes to USPAP for 2020–2021. Module 1 begins by addressing why and how USPAP is changed to gain an understanding of where the changes originate. Exposure Drafts play an important role in the changes and provide the rationale behind the edits and modifications to USPAP. Module 2 addresses the changes in DEFINITIONS for the 2020-2021 USPAP while Module 3 focuses on edits made to the RULES and STANDARDS. Module 4 examines changes to the Advisory Opinions. Module 5 concludes the course by exploring ongoing issues to address areas of common deficiency and topics of concern identified by regulators and USPAP instructors.

The Appraisal Foundation has placed an emphasis on illustrating USPAP application in real-world examples. This course fulfills this requirement with practical examples, pre- and post-course diagnostic quizzes, problem-solving exercises, and multimedia "Back to Basics" case studies.
