At this seminar, participants will:

  • Learn what is a drone
  • Learn the four environments that drones operate in and how they impact real estate
  • Learn the three types of drones that are being used for aerial inspections
  • Understand which aerial drone works best in urban, suburban, and rural environments
  • Discuss the various real estate businesses and their need for aerial inspections
  • Learn crossover real estate businesses using aerial inspections
  • Discuss the future trends of how drone technology will affect real estate.

Additionally, the following rules and regulations will be discussed:

  • The public issues of privacy
  • The public issues of security
  • Learn how to navigate the FAA website
  • Learn how to determine whether you are using your drone for commercial business
  • Operational Rules for aerial inspections
  • Learn how to register a drone
  • Learn how to become a certified remote pilot
  • Understand the Federal Code of Regulations and the rules that apply to aerial inspections using drones.

Lastly, a case study will be presented that will include:

  • How to develop a planned mission for an urban single-family residential home
  • How to set up a landing and take-off zone
  • How to develop flight patterns to keep people and property safe
  • Learn how to determine the risk mitigation procedures for a safe operation
  • Learn about anticipated hazards and how to deal with them.

Cancellation Policy

Up to 15 days prior to program start date, a $25.00 cancellation fee will be applied to all requests for cancellation. Between two and 14 days prior to program start date, a $50.00 cancellation fee will be applied to all requests for cancellation. Less than two days prior to program start date, no refunds will be given.

TIME: Check in begins at 8:30 am Pacific; seminar will be held from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm 

VIRTUAL OFFERING: Registrants will connect using ZOOM interactive technology. For the full ZOOM experience, registrants will need a computer, Internet access, webcam, and a microphone. You do not need a paid account from ZOOM to participate. 

PHOTO VERIFICATION: As part of the required attendance monitoring, all students need to provide the Chapter Office with a copy of your driver's license in advance of the offering. Simply take a picture of your driver's license, scan it, and send it to patti@sdcai.org. Registrants who do not forward their photo ID to the Chapter Office will be ineligible for credit and will be prohibited from attending the seminar.

EDUCATION CREDIT: This seminar is approved for 15 points of Appraisal Institute education credit, and for 3 hours of BREA continuing education credit (Approval No. 21CP754601465). Please note that not all states have approved virtual education; therefore, registrants must check their individual states for approval before registering for the program.
