This course is planned as a live, in-person, one-day, six-session presentation with two keynote addresses on real estate appraisal and transportation issues, including appraising for federal, state and Local Public Agency road improvement projects, the Indiana Department of Transportation’s (“INDOT”) appraisal policies and requirements, the real estate appraiser as an expert in litigation, the future of Indiana‘s road improvement projects, issues confronted by local public agencies in land acquisition, including in appraising, and the effect of road improvement projects on utilities’ real estate interests and infrastructure. The program speakers include one real estate broker, three real estate appraisers, two senior project managers, one INDOT early assessment specialist, and four eminent domain attorneys with a deep bench of experience, and two keynote speakers, the Indiana Lt. Governor and INDOT’s Director of Real Estate.          

This advanced course is intended to increase the attendees’ knowledge about the complexity of real estate appraising for federal, state and Local Public Agency transportation projects, as well as significant issues that may be confronted on these projects, such the effect on utilities’ real estate interests and infrastructure. Through the presentations made by seasoned experts, including real estate brokers, appraisers and attorneys, as well as INDOT and local governmental appraisal and transportation officials and specialists, program attendees will also gain insight into the real estate appraiser as an expert in litigation and the symbiotic relationship among right of way professionals, including appraisers, as members of the transportation project team, and will be provided the opportunity to interact with the program’s presenters.
