The attorneys of Pullman & Comley, LLC’s Property Tax and Valuation Department (PTVD) will provide the audience with an update on developments at the Tax Court since the retirement of Judge George Levine last year. The Court’s standing orders will be reviewed and the pretrial settlement conference program will be discussed. Input from audience members on their recent pretrial experiences will be solicited. This presentation will be followed by a mock pretrial settlement conference involving a commercial property tax appeal. The pretrial will be conducted based upon a fact pattern that will be provided to the audience. PTVD attorneys will fill the roles of mediator, taxpayer’s counsel and municipality’s counsel. Two CT Chapter members will be invited to fill the roles of taxpayer’s and municipality’s appraisers. The presentation will highlight both valuation issues and negotiating strategies.
