Participation Guidelines: Students must have webcam/iphone/smartphone capability to participate and receive continuing education credit. The platform will be interactive and live. The instructor must be able to physically see and interact with all students and students must be able see and interact with the instructor. A copy of your driver's license must be emailed to the Chapter office as verification after you have registered for the offering prior to the offering start date. You will receive a separate email from the Chapter Office with log-in/access information. Please contact the chapter office if you have any questions regarding the participation guidelines. This two-hour webinar will provide a brief introduction to the National Flood Insurance Program and basic floodplain terminology and concepts with emphasis on Flood Insurance Rate Maps. With the NFIP’s increasing fiscal instability, advances in mapping technology, and policy reform, many changes are underway and will continue in the future, so it is important for all real estate professionals to be well-informed . The principal objective is to provide participants with knowledge and resources that will enhance client representation. Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to: Define “Special Flood Hazard Area” Provide an example of how flood zone determinations can impact the value of a property Describe how FEMA’s Flood Insurance Rate Maps are used for risk assessment Describe the general process of a disputing a flood zone determination List two ways a property owner can prepare for a flood map change CE: AI - 10 points State of CT RE Appraisal Commission - 2 hours CE
